Activating two POTA parks with some DX

Running 5w from two POTA parks near Melbourne CBD. The first park had not been activated before while the second was under Melbourne's iconic West Gate Bridge. Beach and park portable on 28 MHz only

A couple of hours 28 MHz (only) portable. Firstly from a local beach which was on the border of 2 council areas. Good for the VK Shires Contest taking place. Проверил свой кваншенг и он тупой на 1296мгц. Плохо слышит генератор на 1296мгц. Всего пару метров с нановна.
I very much recommend having an "obscure mode day" where you do QSOs in modes like these. You don't need to make long faxes, even just short strips 1 minute long are fine.
Would you agree that the built-in battery of the FT-817/FT-818 is a bit 'weak'? (understatement). I once installed an Windcamp upgrade but it's not that great of an improvement either. So I take external LiFePO batteries with me. It would be great if someone came up with a really beefy LiFePO battery pack that would fit inside the FT-817, and also could be charged just by having the 817 plugged in. Amen.
Agree. I always use an external battery.
